Waterproofing Block Wall

Auckland Council had a problem with water ingress inside the office and reception area of the Takapuna Pools. We identified that there was a drainage issue with a limited stormwater network capacity and insufficient number of catchpits in the road, after a small investigative dig we found that the original waterproofing on the blockwork had failed and was also not up to current code for the depth of wall. The solution was to excavate down to the foundation of the block work, clean the face of the wall and apply new waterproofing and protective membrane. We then backfilled the area and installed larger storm water drainage pipes including a number of double width catch pits. The watertightness issue was permanently resolved and we have heard that many years later it is still perfectly dry inside the offices.
